My Projects

This page is dedicated to listing projects I am currently working on, and at the bottom those that I once did.

I spend a great deal of time tinkering with things. If you have a project that you think I might be interested in, please drop me an email and I will take a look. I can't possibly keep track of every new thing, but I am always excited to get involved with something creative and useful.

Built from Paterva, the brain child of Roelof Temmingh, Maltego is a dynamic da ta relation tool that mines network based sources and shows relationships between people, IP addresses, phone numbers, domain names, email addresses, physical addresses, etc.

m0n0wall is simply amazing. I was going to write an intro about what it is, but their site has it nailed perfectly:

“m0n0wall is a project aimed at creating a complete, embedded firewall software package that, when used together with an embedded PC, provides all the important features of commercial firewall boxes (including ease of use) at a fraction of the price (free software).
m0n0wall is based on a bare-bones version of FreeBSD, along with a web server, PHP and a few other utilities. The entire system configuration is stored in one single XML text file to keep things transparent.
m0n0wall is probably the first UNIX system that has its boot-time configuration done with PHP, rather than the usual shell scripts, and that has the entire system configuration stored in XML format"
Manuel Kasper’s vision of a firewall is dead-on. A firewall is a firewall, period. (Granted m0n0wall does some VPN tricks that I love) There is nothing superfluous in the firewall. Solid-state and am azingly fast, powerful, and easy to use. Every company should want a firewall like this, and the project is free to everyone. This is the firewall for the uber-geek who is too busy to write their own, but needs some thing they know works and is built perfectly.

I wrote the sections of the user guide for PPT and IPSEC VPN setup for the system. I keep these updated on my site, and from time-to-time we updgate the m0n0wall document to reflect my version. You ca n find the most recent version of the documents, and a growing FAQ, in the My Documents section of the site.

Preventsys is a radical vulnerbility and security policy compliance tool. I was fortunate enough to have been shown this product befor e the first line of code was written, and have stuck with them since then. Founded by John Williams and Brian Costello (Two of the smartest people I know, and both dear friends) this product simply bea ts everyone. The product came out years ahead of anyone else having the idea, and is still setting the pace for everyone else who is trying to create something similar. I now sit on the Technical Advisory Board for this company.

Ultima Online was the product and project that got me into the game industry. Fantastic memories of people and Origin Systems lives on with many o f us who are still with EA, some even still working under the Origin Systems studio which is now located in Redwood Shores, California. I was there when it all started and was lucky enough to help with several expansions before I moved on to other things at Electronic Arts (EA). You can find me in the credits at this link. I also worked on Ultima IX, Longbow II (never shipped), UO II (never shipped), Privateer Online (never shipped), and several other projects that.. . never shipped. But so is the way of the game industry.
